Lammas eco village explores alternative ways for living on the land, encoraging and traching those who come how to design thier own inftastructure and support a one-planet lifestyle.
The eco village consists of a group of smallholdings which work together creating land based self-reliance.
The project supports a permaculture approach to land management – in which human beings are considered an intrinsic part of the ecosystem. As a result the approach to environmental management is one of stewardship for future generations rather than exploitation for short term gain.
The community have members amd visitors from all walks of life and skill level, Lammas has its own fruit and vegetable production, livestock and bees, woodland and willow crafts, value-added food production, and seed production.
Buildings are developed by volunteers and members often using recyled/natural materials this Low-impact construction much more efficient and organic for the planet.
For power our members use combinations of hydro power, solar power and wind turbines.
We wish that Lammas continues to provide an educational resource for all, pointing the way for truly sustainable rural developments of the future. We are working across the land to enhance the habitats for all life found here, bio-diversity increasing the yield from the land.
